Qualcomm is looking to take its powerful Snapdragon X Elite series even further. Not long after the first generation of X Elite chipsets hit the market, leaks have revealed that Qualcomm is already developing the 2nd generation of Snapdragon X Elite chipsets.
Qualcomm is working on the 2nd generation of the Snapdragon X Elite series: What will we see in the next generation chipsets?
The next-generation chipsets are being developed under the code name “SC8480XP” and use “Project Glymur” as the project name. Interestingly, Qualcomm is naming its chipsets after the beauty of nature. Glymur is the name of Iceland’s second highest waterfall.
Leaks indicate that Qualcomm started testing the new chipsets as early as July 2024. However, the tests are said to have been conducted on development boards instead of existing laptop motherboards. So, the new chipsets are still some time away from launch. So what will these new chipsets offer?
While the first-generation Snapdragon X Elite chipsets already attracted attention with their extremely powerful performance, the second-generation chipsets are expected to offer more efficiency and power. In particular, we could see a big leap in energy saving and artificial intelligence performance.
Qualcomm is also determined to expand the Snapdragon X series. The chipsets’ powerful performance is expected to be used in future flagship models for laptops and mobile devices. In addition, Qualcomm’s “waterfall” themed codenaming tradition is an interesting detail in the chipset world.
The Snapdragon X series has the potential to be a game-changer in both the mobile and PC worlds. So, what do you think about this? You can write your opinions in the comments section below.
